Joining UnitedHealth Care as a Call Center LPN/LVN can be your opportunity to offer a higher level of care to our members. While your work will take place over the phone, you will have a direct impact on the lives of our members, recommending an appropriate level of clinical care, and connecting them with the resources they need to make informed health decisions. Our nurses do this in a way that utilizes effective/compassionate communication and allows them to develop a rapport with our members in a fast-paced environment. You will act as a compass for our members, guiding them through a complex medical environment as you identify appropriate providers and services, act as a health coach and provide referrals in order to optimize health outcomes. Schedule: 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM PST Monday to Friday and Saturday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM PST

An active and unrestricted LPN/LVN license in California is required for this position and an additional Compact LPN license is preferred.

If you reside in the PST or MST time zones, you will enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assesses member current health status and recommends appropriate level of care based on clinical judgment and protocols
  • Adheres to ethical, legal / regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Assesses members understanding of their condition and identifies potential care and / or provider gaps
  • Provides health education and coaches members on treatment alternatives to assist them in best decision making
  • Assesses readiness to change, offering opportunities for intervention that will assist members in reaching their health care goals
  • Uses coaching techniques, activation and motivational skills to empower the member to take action and participate in the shared decision-making process
  • Supports members in selection of best physician and facility to maximize access, quality, and to manage heath care cost
  • Empowers members with skills to enhance their interaction with their provider
  • Coordinates services and referrals to health programs and community services
  • Assesses and triages immediate health concerns
  • Manages utilization through education
  • Collaboratively plans care with member
  • Posses strong telephonic motivational communication skills
  • Ability to navigate rapid environment change
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • Active, unrestricted LPN/LVN license in the state of California
  • 2+ years of clinical experience (any setting)
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency including utilizing MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and the ability to type and talk at the same time while navigating a Windows based environment
  • Must reside in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high speed internet connection or can leverage existing high – speed internet service
  • Access to dedicated workspace from home for in-home office set up
  • Ability to work Pacific Standard Time hours as listed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Compact LPN/LVN license
  • Experience in Telephonic case management or triage
  • Experience working in a call center environment
  • Solid working knowledge chronic medical diagnoses (CHF, COPD, diabetes, etc.)
  • Written and spoken Spanish proficiency
  • Posses strong telephonic motivational communication skills
  • Ability to navigate rapid environment change
