As part of the UCS Learning & Performance Solutions, Clinical Admin Nurse Consultant Trainer (RN) are subject matter experts in training and the functional requirements of the clinical program job roles. This role will primarily train in Appeals and Grievances team within several business lines.  They support new business initiatives and development of new training programs. The overall purpose of the Trainer role is to deliver and maintain optimal training outcomes through:

  • Continual collaboration with stakeholders
  • Continual assessment and analysis of training needs for existing staff and new hires
  • Accurate representation of training capabilities and resources
  • Clearly defined learning goals and objectives
  • Appropriate training curriculum maintenance based on source of truth documents

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Customer Experience: 
    • Demonstrate knowledge of the business environment and business requirements
    • Attend meetings as necessary to understand process changes and training needs
    • Establish clear lines of communication with all leadership/business partners, and set appropriate expectations related to training
    • Develop strong, collaborative working relationships across teams including Utilization Management, Functional Area SMEs/teams, Regulatory Adherence, Clinical Business Enablement, Affordability, Clinical Programs, and Trainers
    • Assist in the coordination of training delivery by working with the Training Consultant, Training Manager, and other Trainers
  • Maintain Industry Knowledge:
    • Maintain knowledge of current and planned technology capabilities in the business
    • Maintain awareness of a variety of training delivery modes
    • Drive adoption to training best practices and trends
    • Share training best practices with applicable stakeholders across the business
  • Implement and Measure:
    • Assist others to conduct training needs assessment/analysis and determine training response
    • Assist with the development of learning objectives and training topics
    • Communicate potential procedural changes and impacts to Training Materials &/or
  • Curriculum to Managers
    • Facilitate training
    • Assist with training or train-the-trainer as assigned
    • Design training materials
    • Develop training measurement
    • Maintain ownership of training materials and maintain annual functional area leadership review at least annually and as needed
    • Participate in internal continuous improvement by monitoring internal reports, processes, and contribute ideas to influence innovative opportunities where gaps in process exist
    • Contribute to collaborative efforts to identify solutions to improve policies, processes, and tools
    • Have a knowledge of the process or process changes to identify ongoing/enhanced training needs
    • Analyze training evaluation data to measure training effectiveness and linkage to job performance
    • Analyze reports to identify ongoing retraining needs
    • Identify and implement improvements to learning solutions to enhance learning effectiveness and business impact

Required Qualifications:

  • Current and unrestricted RN in state of residence
  • 2+ years of experience with adult learning/training, virtual training, instructional design and/or training project management, (examples include performing presentations in person and/or through virtual platforms, classroom training experience, virtual training experience, being a preceptor or mentor)
  • 2+ years of clinical experience required within Utilization Review (UR)/Management (UM), preferable in UnitedHealthcare Clinical Services (UCS) &/or Enterprise Clinical Services (ECS) in CCR/Prior Auth as a review nurse
  • Experience in utilization management/utilization review in clinical services for Medicare line of business
  • Experience utilizing HSR medical management application
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and principles
  • Microsoft Office applications proficiency including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint (creating and editing); WebEx experience and proficiency

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Education or a related field
  • UM / managed care experience; clinical coverage review process/prior authorization experience; inpatient care management process experience; appeals & grievances
  • Experience with appeals & grievances
  • Work experience in managing or coordinating care for individuals with complex and special needs
  • Knowledge of system applications, understanding of UM program end-to-end, solid ability to communicate
  • Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate tools and resources used to develop training content (i.e., Articulate, Captivate, MS Office Suite, Flash, Adobe Suite, SnagIt, LMS and video development)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management (documenting timeline, milestones, and status reports) related to instructional design projects
  • Proven ability to develop and present effective training programs to a variety of audiences

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington residents is $67,800 to $133,100.
