The Preservice Review LPN is responsible for performing the completion of the denial letter process for adverse determinations. This requires notification to members and/or providers, using applicable benefit plan documents, and nationally recognized clinical guidelines and criteria. The LPN is responsible for providing appeal and peer to peer information and collaborates with the Medical Director on finalized letter language.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review medical director rationale on adverse determinations
  • Ensure correct decisioning rationale has been entered in case.  Review letter language for correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. Verify it meets CMS requirements for readability level
  • Communicate various benefit determinations to health care providers and/or members and advise of appeal rights
  • Extend peer to peer opportunities
  • Act as a resource for others with less experience

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED or higher
  • Current unrestricted LPN/LVN license in the state of residency
  • 3+ years of LPN experience with direct patient care
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Flexible with work hours in Pacific Time Zone
  • Availability to work one weekend every 6-8 weeks
  • Dedicated home office space with access to high-speed Internet
  • Ability to work within multiple platforms and sites


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Authorization experience
  • Familiarity with Milliman Care Guidelines or Interqual
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
