Position Scope:

Supported by evidence based medical guidelines and the most influential behavioral techniques, our health professionals will assist individuals in managing all components of their condition. This includes adherence to medications, understanding and managing risk factors, maintaining up to date screenings, monitoring tests and more. Because each person has a unique situation, our team focuses on building a personal relationship with the individuals they interact with, understanding what contributes to their success in maintaining optimal health. Focus will be on coaching individuals holistically within the context of their life, including their family, psychosocial framework and their work environment.

Summary description of position:

The Lead Clinician is responsible for clinical case consultations, coaching audits, training and mentoring of new staff while supporting the development needs of staff established with the Clinical  Supervisors.  The Lead Clinician will support collaboration and consultation amongst disciplines, and identify clinical development opportunities at an individual and team level, under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor. The Clinical Team lead will also maintain a 50% work load that is interacting directly with Cigna’s Customers.

Major responsibilities and desired results:

  • Provides clinical consultation to all  care management staff
  • Assists Supervisor in various audits (NCQA, Calendar Audits, Account specific audits, etc.) as required.
  • Support Clinical rounds in partnership with Medical Director(s)
  • Resolves problem/escalated situations referred by internal staff (coaches and advocates) or customers we are servicing
  • Serves has a Clinical and Coaching Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Supports orientation of new staff in conjunction with Work Force Development.
  • Assist Supervisors in day-to-day operations
  • Conducts chart reviews for audits as well as call coaching
  • Participates in special projects as directed by Supervisors or Senior Management Team

Minimum requirements:

  • Must be an RN with an active licenses in good standing
  • A minimum of  three (3) years clinical experience is required
  • Must have a background in Clinical Coaching, including Chronic Condition management, health education and wellness coaching preferred

  • Must think with an enterprise mind-set
  • Must be comfortable in providing feedback and mentoring to others.

Preferred requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of health behavior change theories and their application
  • Proven administrative abilities, with strong computer and software application skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Significant skill level in clinical acumen  and effective decision making skills
  • Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data
  • Working knowledge of queue support
  • Commitment to Customer Centricity
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities
  • A high energy level and excellent written and oral communication skills are essential
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve internal and external complaints/conflict
  • Passion for health improvement of customers
  • Experience with direct customer communication (written and verbal), experience in telephonic counseling/coaching preferred
  • Experience in the use of applied behavioral theory such as cognitive behavior therapy

This role is WAH which allows work to be performed at home. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite. For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 75,300 – 125,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
