That’s one reason why diversity and inclusion are core to our business.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Why This Role Matters:

This role is foundational to Evolent’s ability to scale, reduce operational noise, and deliver consistent, high‑quality outcomes for clients. The Director, Scope Management will help shift the organization from people‑driven decisions to rules‑based, scalable execution, ensuring scope is managed as a true enterprise capability.

Who You’ll Be Working With:

This role sits at the center of Evolent’s operating model and partners closely with leaders across Clinical, Performance, Finance, Product, Technology, Implementation, and Strategic Accounts. The Director interacts regularly with senior leadership and is expected to lead with confidence, clarity, and strong judgment in highly cross‑functional environments.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Scope Management Leadership & Transformation

  • Lead Evolent’s Scope Management Transformation, establishing clear ownership, accountability, and execution across implementations, scope changes, and business operations.
  • Drive enterprise‑level change by translating strategy into executable roadmaps that improve decision speed, consistency, and quality.
  • Provide end‑to‑end leadership for complex, cross‑functional initiatives, including new market and product implementations and large‑scale scope changes.
  • Own delivery from planning through execution, actively managing risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs while driving timely decisions in ambiguous and high‑stakes environments.
  • Ensure scope decisions are clearly documented, operationalized, and embedded into downstream systems, workflows, and operating models.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership on scope strategy, priorities, and long‑term capability building.

Cross‑Functional Operations

  • Partner closely with leaders across Clinical, Product, Finance, Performance, Technology, Implementation, and Strategic Accounts to align scope decisions with clinical, financial, and operational objectives.
  • Lead and support formal scope governance and change forums, enabling structured, rules‑based decisioning and clear cross‑functional accountability.
  • Establish and reinforce standardized approval criteria and decision frameworks to reduce rework, escalation, and variability in outcomes.
  • Oversee scope activities tied to new client, market, or line‑of‑business implementations, ensuring alignment from decision through execution.
  • Drive cross‑functional clarity by ensuring scope changes are translated into actionable operational requirements and consistently applied across teams and platforms.

Operational Excellence & Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Scope Management leaders and team members, fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor operational health, backlog, and delivery performance, ensuring work is prioritized against enterprise impact.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and quality through process standardization, documentation, and enablement.

The Experience You’ll Need (Required & Preferred):

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, nursing, public health, healthcare informatics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in program or project management, operations, or business leadership within a healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, cross‑functional initiatives that drive transformation, change, and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong foundational project management skills, including planning, risk management, dependency management, and execution.
  • Proven ability to influence and drive decisions across clinical, technical, financial, and operational teams.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare operations, including utilization management, prior authorization, managed care, or health plan operations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level storytelling and presentation capabilities.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity with the ability to create structure, clarity, and momentum.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MSN, or similar).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with scope definition, medical coding (CPT, HCPCS, ICD‑10), or clinical policy operations.
  • Familiarity with national payer workflows, regulatory considerations, and value‑based care models.
  • Experience in a technology‑enabled healthcare services organization.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
