The Role
We are seeking a Nurse Data Abstractor to remotely support deliverables across all therapeutic lines. This role plays an integral part in meeting and exceeding client expectations, advancing Pedestal Health’s position as an industry leader in real-world evidence.
What You’ll Do
- Perform clinical data abstraction based upon project-specific requirements.
- Provide input and recommendations to improve overall abstraction projects, including abstraction guidelines, educational resources, clinical insights, and workflow suggestions.
- Attend project meetings and training as requested.
- Assist in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to test abstraction guidelines, workflows, and education materials.
- Maintain current knowledge of project requirements related to clinical data abstraction.
- Track completion of assigned work to ensure required benchmarks are met and report status as needed.
- Maintain abstraction accuracy at or above project-defined quality thresholds.
- Meet project-defined case volume and turnaround targets as communicated by the project team.
- Protect the confidential nature of all clinical data, maintaining strict confidentiality and security of all home-based and remote clinical data/PHI containing copies and electronic files.
- Support the team on projects and priorities as business needs arise.
What You’ll Bring
- Associate’s degree in nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Active, unrestricted clinical license required (RN, APRN, PA, DO, or equivalent); preferred credentials include RN, PA, or APRN.
- 3+ years in a clinical and/or healthcare setting required; At least 1 year of demonstrated experience in clinical data abstraction or a similar role.
- Experience in multiple clinical areas preferred
- Proficiency with EMR and medical platforms (e.g., EPIC, Cerner, Beacon, Varian, OncoEMR, AllScripts) and ability to abstract clinical data from PDF records and unstructured clinical notes.
- Knowledge of medical record structure, format, and content, including medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, pharmacology, and microbiology.
- Familiarity with clinical terminologies and coding systems, including ICD-10, SNOMED CT, LOINC, and RxNorm.
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer fundamentals and applications including Google Platform, Slack, and REDCap; ability to learn new electronic capture tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing tasks, work independently, and collaborate effectively as part of a professional team.
