SUMMARY
The Manager of Clinical Policy supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical policies and procedures that promote safe, effective, and compliant dialysis care. This role works closely with nursing, compliance, IT, and quality teams to ensure clinical documentation standards align with regulatory requirements and organizational goals. The Manager monitors changes in healthcare policy, supports EMR optimization efforts, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and updating clinical policies and procedures related to dialysis care.
- Ensure policies reflect current regulatory requirements, clinical standards, and best practices.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, and quality teams to interpret and implement health policy changes.
- Support EMR documentation standards that align with billing, regulatory compliance, and quality reporting (e.g., QIP, DFC).
Clinical Documentation & Informatics Support
- Work with clinical and IT teams to ensure EMR workflows support accurate and efficient documentation.
- Participate in initiatives to improve clinical decision support and data integrity.
- Monitor policy-related performance metrics and contribute to data-driven improvement efforts.
Regulatory Monitoring & Implementation
- Track changes in federal and state healthcare regulations affecting dialysis care.
- Assist in translating regulatory updates into actionable policy and practice changes.
- Support audit readiness and compliance initiatives through policy alignment and documentation review.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with nursing, medical, and operational teams to promote policy awareness and adoption.
- Provide guidance and training on new or revised clinical policies.
- Foster effective communication across departments to ensure consistent policy implementation.
Team Support & Leadership
- May supervise or mentor policy analysts or coordinators.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Policy, Public Health, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
RN license preferred. Certification in healthcare compliance, informatics, or policy is a plus.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in clinical policy, healthcare compliance, or dialysis operations.
- Familiarity with EMR systems and regulatory frameworks (e.g., CMS, ESRD Conditions for Coverage).
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and supporting policy implementation.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of dialysis care delivery and clinical documentation standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret regulations and translate them into practical policies.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
