Job Description

Diabetes care for the rest of us.

Roughly three out of four adults who take insulin have never used a pump. Not because the technology doesn’t work — but because it has been too expensive, too complicated, or too overwhelming. Modular Medical built Pivot™ for those people: the “almost-pumpers.”

Pivot is a tubeless insulin patch pump with a full 3 mL removable cartridge and a deliberately simple interface, cleared by the FDA in April 2026 and now shipping to endocrinology practices across the country. It is only the second fully tubeless pump on the U.S. market. Our founder, Paul DiPerna, previously founded Tandem Diabetes and designed the t:slim — he started this company to solve the access problem the last one didn’t.

The Role

As our National Diabetes Clinical Training Manager, you are the clinical voice of Modular Medical — to the diabetes care community, to our field team, and to every person who opens a Pivot box for the first time.

You will build and lead our Clinical Educator team, certify our sales force on clinical use, and serve as the primary clinical liaison to the CDCESs, nurses, pharmacists, and prescribers who decide whether pump therapy is on the table for their patients. You’ll design the training itself — curricula, workshops, webinars, on-demand modules — for a product whose entire premise is that it should be easy to learn. Including work with partners like LevelEx, whose gamified training platform lets people practice with a pump before they ever wear one.

This is a national, home-based role with real ownership. You will not be handed a finished playbook. You will write it.

What You’ll Do

Lead the clinical education team

  • Lead, train, and develop a team of Clinical Educators as the field organization grows.
  • Train and certify the Modular Medical sales force and field clinical team on Pivot features, indications, and clinical use — and recertify as the product evolves.
  • Support field-based Representatives on everything related to training patients on pump therapy.

Be the clinical liaison to the diabetes care community

  • Serve as the primary clinical resource to diabetes educators, nurses, pharmacists, physicians, PAs, NPs, and other HCPs — covering Pivot features, indications and contraindications, alarms and alerts, troubleshooting, and clinical positioning.
  • Organize and lead educational events, workshops, and webinars for HCPs and patient groups to build product awareness, adoption, and clinical confidence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with diabetes advocacy organizations, patient communities, and support groups.

Get people started — and keep them going

  • Conduct individual and group pump start-up and onboarding sessions for people with diabetes and their caregivers, including those transitioning from MDI to pump therapy.
  • Provide structured follow-up that supports adherence, confidence, and clinical outcomes — not just a completed training checkbox.

Build the training itself

  • Partner with Sales Training to develop and maintain field-based training on diabetes standards of care, the competitive landscape, and Pivot product training.
  • Develop clinical training content — curricula, presentations, video, e-learning, and on-demand modules — for field representatives, Product Trainers, and Clinical Educators.

Close the loop

  • Capture and communicate user feedback, training effectiveness data, and field-observed product issues back to the people who can act on them.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Customer Support to keep clinical messaging aligned with strategy — and consistent with FDA-cleared labeling and the promotional review process.
  • Partner with Quality and Customer Support to ensure complaints and adverse events are reported per FDA Medical Device Reporting (21 CFR 803) and our QMS.
  • Participate in market research and stakeholder feedback sessions, and translate what you hear into strategies that resonate with clinicians and with people living with diabetes.

What You Bring

Required

  • Active, unrestricted U.S. clinical license — RN, RD, Pharmacist, PA, or NP (or equivalent clinical credential) with substantial diabetes care experience.
  • CDCES or BC-ADM credential — required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related health sciences field.
  • 5+ years of clinical experience in diabetes education, nursing, or clinical diabetes management, including direct hands-on experience with insulin pump therapy and CGM.
  • Proven experience training and educating field sales teams, Product Trainers, clinical professionals, and people living with diabetes.
  • Strong working knowledge of current ADA Standards of Care in Diabetes and ADCES practice guidelines, including pump therapy, CGM, and automated insulin delivery (AID) systems.
  • Excellent platform and facilitation skills grounded in adult-learning principles, for both in-person and virtual delivery to clinical and non-clinical audiences.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to maintain motor vehicle insurance meeting company standards.

Preferred

  • Experience developing clinical training content — curricula, presentations, video, e-learning, or on-demand modules.
  • Prior clinical training, field clinical specialist, or clinical product specialist experience in the diabetes device or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Familiarity with FDA labeling, promotional review, MDR and complaint handling, and HIPAA.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Tools you’ll use

  • Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook); Zoom and Teams; CRM systems such as Salesforce or HubSpot; learning management systems; and diabetes data platforms including Tidepool, Glooko, and Dexcom Clarity.

Where and How You’ll Work

  • Home-based, with a mix of remote, office, and customer-site work.
  • Domestic travel up to 30%.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $128,000 – $158,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined by experience, credentials, and geographic location, and is one component of a total rewards package that includes health and welfare benefits, paid time off, and equity participation.

Why This One

Most clinical training roles mean inheriting a mature curriculum and maintaining it. This one means deciding what good training looks like for a product built specifically for people who were told pumps weren’t for them — and then building it, nationally, from the ground up.

If you have spent your career watching people get filtered out of pump therapy because the learning curve was too steep, this is the role where you get to do something about it at scale.
