Job Description Summary
- The College of Health and Human Services at Shawnee State University seeks qualified individuals for all terms (6 per year) to serve as part-time faculty (adjunct) in the School of Nursing for the programs listed below
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), fully online program

Payment is based on contract hours according to the highest degree held. Adjunct faculty at SSU are eligible for tuition waivers (Tuition Waiver for Adjunct Faculty Policy (Download PDF reader)) and enjoy professional development opportunities, office space, and limited mileage reimbursement. They and their family (children 14 years and up) also have free access to the athletic facility.
Employment with the University is dependent upon BOT budget approval for the current fiscal year. A background check is required prior to hire. Official transcripts are required and must be submitted prior to hire to the Dean’s Office, College of Health and Human Services at 940 2nd Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662

Minimum Qualifications
-
- Earned Doctorate in Nursing or related field; three (3) years of full-time teaching experience at regionally accredited institution OR five (5) years of professional experience in nursing.
- Valid unencumbered professional licensure, either Ohio RN license or multi-state licensure
- Related professional experience in Nursing; and
- Evidence of successful teaching experience in one or more area: clinical, classroom, online.
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent technology skills
- Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
Preferred Qualifications
1. Nursing Leadership/Management experience in a Healthcare organization or Academic setting.
2. Online teaching experience.
