Summary of Job Duties:
The Preoperative Evaluation Center serves as a vital role in the safe and effective management of surgical patients. The Advanced Practice Nurse will assist the anesthesiologists with performing pre-anesthesia evaluations through reviewing the available medical record, interviewing the out patients over the phone, inpatients in person and working with the anesthesiologist(s) to order and review
pertinent tests, as well as order appropriate preoperative medications. The APRN will help ensure that patients are optimized for surgery and assist in making the determination of whether the patient is appropriate for One Day Surgery or the Main OR. The future plans for this position will be to see patients in the surgical clinics, who are higher anesthesia risk patients, and provide the pre-anesthesia assessment after the patient has been seen by the surgeon and the need for surgery is determined.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Two (2) years of nursing experience
- Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas;
- Arkansas APRN License
- Must be able to operate all typical nursing equipment essential to perform the job (i.e.,
scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines) - Must have normal communication and sensory requirements
- Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of APRN experience
- Prescriptive authority and DEA license must be obtained in conjunction with hire.

- Collaborates with a variety of health care professionals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems serving as a resource,interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
- Manages post procedure immunosuppression and labs of patient in coordination with physician and pharmacist.

- Collaborates in policy and program development, implementation, and evaluation using best practices in delivering quality service.
- Edits and documents results in various critical care systems.
