- Resident Assessment: Observe, assess, document, and report resident conditions and changes during rounds.
- Care Implementation: Ensure resident care plans are correctly followed and implemented.
- Medication Administration: Give prescribed medications and perform narcotic counts (reconciliation) between shifts.
- Physician Communication: Complete required nursing assessments before calling a doctor regarding any change in a resident's health.
- Supervision: Monitor and oversee certified nursing aides.
- Documentation: Complete accident, incident, and discharge reports according to facility policy.
- Family Communication: Update residents' designated points of contact on status changes. [1]
- Completion of an accredited vocational nursing program.
- Active status as a Graduate Vocational Nurse pursuing official Texas licensure.
